Konyaalti Beach (Konyaalti Plaji)

Konyaaltı Beach is Antalya's closest major beach to the city center, a broad pebble-and-gravel shoreline stretching approximately eight kilometers westward from the base of the old city's dramatic limestone cliffs. What it lacks in sand it more than compensates with extraordinary views: the Taurus Mountains rise directly behind the city, their peaks snow-covered well into spring, creating a backdrop that strikes most first-time visitors as almost absurdly cinematic.

The beach is divided into public and paid sections, with the public areas offering free access and the private beach clubs providing sun-loungers, showers, changing rooms, restaurants, and watersport facilities for a modest daily fee. The water is notably clean and designated Blue Flag, its color shifting from pale turquoise at the shore to deep sapphire in the open gulf. A wide promenade behind the beach hosts cafes, playgrounds, cycle paths, and weekend markets, making Konyaaltı as much a social space as a swimming destination. The adjacent Antalya Aquarium and Ataturk Cultural Park add further options for families. Because it is walkable from Kaleiçi and the city center, Konyaaltı serves as the everyday beach of Antalya residents while also welcoming tourists who want an authentic local atmosphere rather than the all-inclusive resort environment found further along the coast at Lara.
