Orak Island

Orak Island is a hidden gem in the Bodrum peninsula's constellation of Aegean islets, celebrated among divers and sailors for its crystalline waters, dramatic underwater topography, and near-total absence of tourist infrastructure. The island sits in the open sea east of Bodrum and is accessible only by private boat or organized day trip. Underwater visibility regularly exceeds 25 metres, revealing rocky reefs, sea caves, and a rich variety of Aegean marine life including grouper, octopus, and sea bream. Two small pebbly coves offer ideal anchoring spots where swimmers can enjoy the intensely blue water in relative solitude. The rugged, scrub-covered terrain above the waterline is equally striking, especially in spring when wildflowers carpet the hillsides. Because Orak lacks facilities entirely, visitors must be fully self-sufficient — most arrive aboard gulet sailing boats as part of blue voyage itineraries exploring the Bodrum coast.
